BaByliss is synonymous with style and innovation, with over 50 years of professional expertise in personal care.
Adapted from the same technology use by professional salons, BaByliss Paris brings safe, painless & permanent^ Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) epilation hair removal to the comfort of your own home. Clinically & dermatologically tested for proven effectiveness with a 90% reduction in hair.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal is based on the theory of selective photothermolysis which uses optical energy to stop the growth of the hair.
Homelight Connected applies gentle flashes of light onto the skin’s surface to target the hair follicle’s melanin & root. These flashes of light are then transformed into heat while the surrounding skin stays cool, causing hair to go into a resting phase, ceasing growth. As a result, hair re-growth is weakened & hair sheds naturally.
Every hair on our body has three growth phases:
These three phases play an important role when using IPL. The time the hair takes to go through its three phases varies from one person to the next & from one part of the body to the next (hormonal factors, skin tone & hair colour can affect results).
As a rule, an average cycle can be anywhere between 12 & 24 months. Only hairs that are in the Anagen (growth phase) will respond to treatment. IPL has no effect on hairs in the Catagen (transition phase) & Telogen (resting phase).
^Individual results may vary.
*90% reduction in the amount of hair observed on average on legs after 8 sessions. Clinical study carried out in 2013 on 49 people with Phototypes I to V.

Homelight Connected offers 5 levels of light intensity to suit different skin tones (Phototypes I to V°, according to the Fitzpatrick scale) & varying levels of sensitivity.
The more melanin the hair contains (in other words, the darker the hair is), the more light & the more effective IPL treatment will be. IPL treatment is not effective on white, grey or light blonde hair, which contains little melanin. Melanin is also found in large quantities of dark skin, hence IPL treatment is not recommended for very dark skin.
°IMPORTANT: Please read the instruction manual before using. This product is not suitable for use on very dark skin or by persons with certain medical conditions.
Regular sessions staged over several months are needed to target all hairs. 8 treatments can achieve a reduction in hair of up to 90%*.

Yes. Clinical trials have proven that the BaByliss Homelight IPL devices achieve long-lasting results with complete safety.
The BaByliss Homelight IPL devices have been designed for removal of body hair. The area’s most commonly treated are the legs, underarms, arms, and the pubic area.
Your safety was our first priority when we designed the Homelight IPL devices. Very strict standards were followed when testing and approving it for use at home and skin tolerance was tested under dermatological control. But like any electronic appliance that comes in contact with the skin, the user must follow the instructions and scrupulously follow the safety precautions.
When used properly, most Homelight users report a slight heat sensation when the unit pulses. Users with darker and thicker hair sense a little more discomfort. But these sensations ease and disappear at the end of the session. For your comfort and safety, the Homelight IPL devices have 5 power levels depending on your skin type.
The first 4 sessions with the Homelight should be 2 weeks apart. Next sessions should be 4 weeks apart until you achieve the desired results.
IPL hair removal is most effective on dark hair or on those containing more melanin. Melanin, the pigment that gives colour to skin and hair, absorbs optical energy. Black and dark brown hair responds best to the treatment. Brown and light brown hair also responds, but these will need a few more sessions. Red hair may also respond partially to the treatment. Generally, white, grey or blonde hair does not respond to the treatment, but some users have noticed results after several depilation sessions.
Do not use the appliance on naturally dark skin! The Homelight IPL devices eliminate hair by targeting the hair pigment. Pigments are also found in varying quantities in the surrounding dermal tissues. The quantity of pigments in a person’s dermis, visible through the colour of the skin, defines the level of risk to which he or she is exposed by using the Homelight epilator. Treating dark skin with the Homelight may involve risks like burns, blisters and changes in skin colour (hyper or hypopigmentation). Please consult the table showing the different phototypes and the use recommended according to these types in the section ‘Use’ in the Instruction Booklet.
Like all other photo-epilation methods, the results are not immediate; you may even have the impression that nothing is happening. The hair will sometimes appear to continue growing after a session, but after two weeks, most of this hair will simply fall out. This is why you will need to have a several sessions before achieving the expected result. The first noticeable results will appear after 4 sessions.
The Homelight IPL devices can be used by men. However, men’s hair, especially chest hair, will require more sessions to achieve the desired results.
It is quite common for hair to appear to continue to grow for one to two weeks after a depilation session. This process is known as ‘ejection’. After two weeks, you will nonetheless notice that this hair falls out or comes away from its follicle. That said, we recommend you do not pull the hair from the follicle – let it fall out naturally. Moreover, some hair will not be affected by the Homelight either because of poor application or because the hair was in its dormant phase. This hair will be treated in the following sessions, hence the need for several sessions to achieve the expected results.
This phenomenon is well documented by beauticians and doctors who use pulsed light appliances for depilation treatments. It is possible that some hair grows back lighter and finer after a treatment session. Generally, this hair only represents a tiny part of the original hair growth, treatments should therefore be continued to achieve the desired result.
Over the last 15 years, the use of the pulsed light in aesthetic medicine has been well documented in professional journals. These journals and institutions have not reported any side effects or injuries with long-term use of pulsed light appliances.
Homelight Connected (model G940A) allows facial hair removal (cheeks, upper lip, and chin), but only if the sensitive area filter provided for this purpose is used. Please wear the protective glasses when treating the facial area. IPL devices may not be used for epilation of eyelashes, eyebrows or head hair.
You should avoid exposure to the sun before and after treatment with the Homelight no matter which part of the body has been treated. You must use suitable protection, e.g., a covering garment or a sun cream (with a protection factor of 50+) which you should then use regularly for three weeks before and after treatment. Ideally, you should wait 4 weeks before using the Homelight if you have been exposed to the sun without protection. If you have the least doubt about exposure to the sun consult your doctor or contact BaByliss customer service.
Before each session, it is important that the area to be treated has not been exposed to the sun for at least four weeks. A sun screen with a high protection factor (protection factor of 50+) could be some help, as well as clothes that cover the area to be treated. Moreover, the area to be treated should be washed with soap and water beforehand and then shaved clean of hair.
The area treated with the Homelight may be cleaned and cared for with well-known skin care products. Specific precautions should be taken to avoid unprotected exposure to the sun. Sun screens with a higher protection factor (protection factor of 50+) and long clothing are good protection against the sun.
No, do not remove hair before, during or after treatments. The hair will fall out on its own naturally and gradually. This stage may last up to two weeks. It is recommended to shave 24 hours prior to treatment.
Using the appliance may cause a temporary change in pigmentation (see ‘Possible Side Effects’ in the Instruction Booklet) for detailed information.

BaByliss Epilators can be used on the legs, underarms, arms, pubic area and the face.
Hold the appliance at a 90 degree angle and carefully stretch the skin, holding the skin taut while moving the appliance with the other hand. Move the epilator against the direction of hair growth. Do not use circular movements. Slowly move the epilator, while pressing down lightly. Careful not to press the appliance down too hard against your skin; it might slow down the appliance and be less effective.
Epilate the legs from the lower leg in an upward direction. When epilating behind the knee, keep the leg stretched out straight. Apply a cooling moisturizer to legs after epilation.
Please be aware that especially at the beginning, these areas can be sensitive to pain. With repeated use the pain sensation will diminish. For more comfort, ensure that the hair is at the optimum length of 2mm to 5mm.
Before epilating, thoroughly clean the area to remove residue (like deodorant), then carefully dab dry with a towel. Attach the Sensitive Area attachment before turning the appliance on. The sensitive area attachment has 14 tweezers so that you can remove hair more smoothly and with greater precision from sensitive areas such as the bikini line and underarms.
When epilating the underarm, keep your arm raised so that the skin is stretched and guide the appliance in different directions.
When epilating the bikini line, carefully stretch the skin, holding the skin taut while moving the appliance with the other hand. Move the appliance against the direction of hair growth.
As skin may be more sensitive following epilation, avoid using irritating substances such as deodorant with alcohol.
Thanks to the design of the Duoflex heads on the BaByliss Epilators, the painful plucking sensation is reduced. And when combined with epilation under warm water, the plucking sensation is reduced even further.
The foil shaver attachment has been included for pre-shaving hair that is longer than 1cm and for a nickfree, silky-smooth finish post epilation.

The BaByliss Shaver can be used on the legs, underarms, arms and pubic area.
Fix the foil shaving head on the appliance. Always keep the shaver perpendicular to the surface to be shaved and always work with both hands: stretch the skin with one hand and move the appliance with the other hand. Slowly move the shaver, exerting light pressure. As a precaution, the operation of the appliance may slow down substantially, if the machine is pressed too hard against the skin.
To remove hairs from your underarms, move the appliance from the bottom, in an upwards direction.
To remove hairs from the bikini line, carefully stretch the skin and move the appliance from the outside to the inside.
Rinse the shaver cutter and foil frame under running water or in a sink. Do not use hot water. Use only warm or cold water.
After wet cleaning, allow the foil frame and cutters to air-dry before closing the foil frame and shaver head. Replace shaver head back onto the shaver until it clicks into place. Wipe the surface of the main unit with a dry towel. Do not dry the foil area. Let the shaving head air-dry.
The cutter can also be cleaned with a cleaning brush.
If the body of the shaver becomes dirty, wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent or soap. NEVER use thinners, other solvents or any harsh cleaners.
Once dried, carefully place the protective cap on.
Make sure the appliance is fully dry before placing in the charging stand.
When shaking off excess water, hold the main unit firmly to prevent releasing the head assembly or dropping the units.
Do not use a dryer or heater to dry the shaver. This may result in malfunction or damage to the shaver.

Generally, this hair only represents an tiny part of the original hair growth, treatments should therefore be continued to achieve the desired result.
Over the last 15 years, the use of the pulsed light in aesthetic medicine has been well documented in professional journals. These journals and institutions have not reported any side effects or injuries with long-term use of pulsed light appliances.
